Application Materials and Preparation

As part of your preparation for going into residency, you will need a number of materials to send to residency programs and take with you on interviews. The list below may be helpful in guiding you through preparing numerous application materials.

Residency Application Timeline -- Steps for applying to residency programs include activities such as visiting ERAS, the NRMP and downloading a general residency application timeline.
Letters of Reference -- Get advice on how to obtain strong personal and professional letters of recommendation for your residency applications.
Curriculum Vitae -- Create an exemplary curriculum vitae (CV), a multi-purpose, personal application form for employment, educational opportunities, honors and awards, membership or participation in an organization.
Personal Statement -- Learn the key elements for crafting a well-written personal statement that reflects your professional goals and intent for becoming a physician.
Interviews -- Learn about the interview process, "dressing for success" and making the most of your time speaking with residents and program faculty.
