National Conference

National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students

July 26-28, 2012
Kansas City Convention Center
Kansas City, Missouri
It only happens once a year — the only national conference that connects the entire family medicine chain:
  • Medical students;
  • Family medicine residents;
  • Practicing physicians and physician recruiters;
  • Representatives from fellowship programs and medical missions;
  • Faculty and program directors from residency programs across the nation;
  • Policy and advocacy leaders, and more!
The three-day event includes a packed exhibition hall with more than 400 exhibitors looking to connect with medical students and family medicine residents, workshops and lectures on more than 50 topics, and a chance to make lifelong connections with others who share a stake in family medicine.

The National Congress of Student Members (NCSM), which convenes during the conference, offers the ideal forum for discussing issues and concerns facing medical students. The NCSM business sessions provide the opportunity to have a voice in AAFP policies and positions and to elect AAFP student leaders.
Registration, Scholarships, and Poster Presentations -- Information on when and how to register for National Conference, as well as scholarship opportunities and poster presentation submission details.
2011 FMIG Presentations -- Each year, FMIG leaders put together and host workshop sessions on resources for FMIGs and how to improve them. In 2011, the FMIG presentations included a great presentation from Dr. Katherine Wager and Dr. Neil Mitnick from Albany Medical College on community service, FMIG best practices from six Program of Excellence award winners, and all the FMIG basics as presented by the FMIG Network Regional Coordinators and National Coordinator.
